I am very lucky–had a good job during the recession that allowed me to buy my first home at a low price at age 27. Most of my friends are just now in this financial position, but challenged from finding permanant housing as they are out-dibbed all the time. They are stressed, constantly moving and finding it harder to make ends meet as housing costs increase. Meanwhile, my house has doubled in value. I couldn’t afford to buy my own house today. Great for me, but not so much for so many who didn’t catch my streak of luck. Housing should not be left to chance, luck or fate. We need to ensure that there are always options for a variety of housing needs.
